The Cabinet has not yet, I understand, arrived at & decision; and in view of the position adopted by Lord Crewe, i.e., that the grant should in no way be dependent on the figures of revenue and expenditure for
Otake if Nat it
1910 or 1911, will not be considered necessary to write again to the Treasury just yet; but when next we do so, it will be well to send them a copy of the marked passage on Page 94 of the Debates in the Hong Kong Council, as showing the latest views of the
Unofficial Members.
(The estimated Revenue from the Opium Farm
for 1911 stands at $1,183,200 as against $1,229,500 in
1910. The former sum is that which has always been
anticipated, the latter represents an advance of
$1,500 on the estimate for 1910. But the smell
uifference is not material for the moment.)
